Our color inspiration of course started with red, white and blue then add in some silver or gold for a little sparkle and shimmer. You can use that same inspiration for your July 4th party decor. Keep your tablescapes simple with just a few accents or go all out and create elaborate settings with homemade pinwheels and flags. You can create a great down home patriotic banner from red, white and blue bandanas strung on a clothes line with clothespins. Use bold red flowers to accent white linens or vases. For your food simple finger foods with a patriotic flare are certain to be crowd pleasers. How about sliders topped with American Flag toothpicks? Favorite Fourth of July Memory
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest so it almost always rained on the fourth of July. We were tough though and would often head out to Seattle area firework shows and attempt to picnic and enjoy. We loved to go to 4th of July parades and did our best to be patriotic rain or shine. However, my favorite memory was when I was about twelve years old and it was raining so hard we just couldn’t commit to an outdoor venue. So, we went to the movies. I remember feeling disappointed we weren’t doing something more holiday related and summery. When the movie let out it was about ten o’clock and we happened to be at a theater near where a local fireworks show was just beginning. It had stopped raining and we found a place to stand and enjoy the show. It started out as an unconventional night but we had so much fun and ended up getting to see a great fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day. It just goes to show that even when things start out rough, they can end up just perfect!
